KNITTING ISSUES ? ? ?

If you are struggling with repeated knitting mistakes, stitch recognition and learning issues (any problem that takes more than 5-10 minutes of our normal business day), please consider taking a class with one of our knowledgeable staff members or a private lesson.

Class fees vary. (Beginning Knitting is very comprehensive with 4 sessions for $80), Technique Classes are usually less.
Private lessons are all about you
at $20/hour.


Green Valley will be hosting knitting for Hats and Scarves for Homeless Vets the1st and 5th Tuesday each month, evenings 5-7pm.

"The Knitting Doctor Is In"
Are you struggling with repeated Knitting mistakes, stitch recognition and learning issues (any problem that takes more than 5-10 minutes of our normal business day), please consider this session. Every Tuesday, Noon-2pm $10

Private Lessons – the time is all yours at the shop for $20/hour ($10/half hour) – must schedule.

Children/Young Adult Classes – Please let us know if you have a small group of 8-14 year olds that would like to learn to knit.

Private Instruction for Weaving with Dottie Weir
Private instruction is available for those who want to explore specific topics or projects and want private instructor assistance. Potential topics should be discussed with the instructor. Days, date and times must be arranged with the shop. Cost does not include materials fee. Cost is $20/hour.

“White Fibers” with Dottie Weir
Dye/Painting Skeins of Yarn for Knitting, Weaving and Crochet. This is an introduction class for knitters, weavers, crocheting or any fiber person wanting to create their own dyed yarns and begin to make a personal statement. “White Fibers” are the fiber artists’ canvas. This will be a five hour class. Day to be determined – please let us know if you are interested.






Tapestry Warp with Cheryl Riniker
In the first session you will learn how to warp (set-up) your loom and get ready to begin weaving. Mirrix looms preferred.

Weaving a Color Gamp with Dottie Weir
Does color fascinate you? Do you have heart palpitations trying to make color combination choices? Do you normally work with neutrals because colors are just “too hard”? In this class we will weave with all the colors of the rainbow in the warp and cross them with a second rainbow of colors. Fascinating and wondrous things happen where colors combine to create new and unexpected colors. Come and be intrigued and inspired!

TURNING Your PICTURES into FIBER with Jan Seltman, Spruce Dragon
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS WORKSHOP! Learn the basics of mixing dye colors to create the colors you love without endless and expensive experimentation. Learn to use a color wheel and value scale to create the colors you want to work with:  whether you are a knitter, spinner, weaver or quilter. Learn the mattress stitch and 3-needle bind off for seaming and a simple crochet edging for a more finished look. Some homework required; a garment that needs to be seamed or several swatches to be seamed together.

Socks on 2 Circulars with Judy Cross 
Love knitting socks but don’t like all those pointy ends or stitches falling off the ends?  This is a wonderfully smooth and fun method.  Must have basic knitting skills (able to increase, decrease and pick up stitches).

One Room School House Tatting with Julie Anne Sprinkle
These (2) sessions can be for the beginner or the intermediate student. Julie Anne will teach basic ball and shuttle techniques and pattern reading skills to make simple edging, snowflakes and heart medallions. Tatting is a needlework art form that appeals to so many because of its beauty and versatility. The resource list and bibliography will lead you down the path to your own frivolity. If tatting is NOT new to you, Julie Anne will teach to your level as well.

Beginning Spinning with Sharon Dalrymple
Come create special hand spun yarns. These classes will include wheel operation and maintenance, fiber preparation, worsted and woolen spinning as well as two different plying techniques. You will also learn to operate a drum carder while using various fibers to create your own one of a kind roving. Practice is the key! [Supplies needed: a WORKING wheel, lazy kate, 3 bobbins, niddy noddy. (You may rent a wheel with the accessories for $30.00/month.) Socks on Double-Point Needles with Carolyn Dondi
Have you thought of joining the ranks of the sock knitters? Now is your chance! The basic sock is a thing of beauty. Once you have mastered the 3 ingredients, you will be able to spread your wings and create many different looks. Basic knitting skills required!

Not sure how to decide what colors would look good together? This class will explore basic color theory to help you choose yarns for your next knitting project. It’s a fun, hands on class, where you will be using actual shop yarns to explore color combinations.

Beginning / Intermediate Weaving with Dottie Weir
Beginning weaving or move a bit beyond the basics on our shop 4-shaft floor looms. Learn or refresh skills for warping and setup of floor loom plus study of lace weaves, textures, supplementary weft and painted warps. If you are beyond beginning, you will be pushed to learn more. Floor loom and material included.

Diameter Control Spinning with Sharon Dalrymple
Have you been spinning for while and now discover that you can't consistently make yarn thicker or thinner than your "default" yarn? You know, the size of yarn you always spin? In this class be ready for a BIG "AHA" moment! Sharon will show you how by just adjusting the size of your pulley (whorl) and tension in varying degrees, you can control the diameter of your yarn.

Entrelac with Karen Currier
It is an interesting looking effect and very easy to achieve. In this class you will learn the basics of entrelac construction while knitting a small sample piece.

A 25% deposit is required to reserve your place in class.  Full payment is required two weeks prior to class.
Because we schedule the teacher, order supplies and reserve equipment, there are no exceptions. Registration fees are fully refundable only if you cancel two weeks prior to the beginning of class. If we cancel the class, prepaid fees will be refunded. Please check class supply lists for any pre work or supplies needed for the first class.
In consideration of our instructors and other students, we cannot accommodate infants and children while you are in class. Please make other arrangements for their care.
A 10% discount for class supplies applies to non-sale yarns and books.
